Sebastian Fleissner

Head of Engineering

I’m a passionate engineer and project manager with over 20 years of experience across industry and academia. My areas of interest are embedded software, firmware, physical computing, signal processing, data management and cybersecurity.

Sebastian is the Lead Software Engineer at Wildlife Drones, who takes care of our technology, drives further development and expands our product offering to include data collection from different types of ecological sensors.

What do you do at Wildlife Drones?

I am involved in all aspects of technology research, design, development, and support. I am solving problems, developing solutions that integrate software & hardware, and love playing with the latest tech. I write high-quality, maintainable code.

What does a day at work look like for you?

There is no fixed routine. I might be inside the lab working on software or hardware, outdoors to see and evaluate our technology in action, or helping out with customer inquiries.

I work on a lot of different tasks like designing, developing and deploying offline, real-time animal tracking systems and analysis tools. I am also in charge of the development roadmap and ensure the product and features are in line with the business goals and customer needs. I continually assess the tech stack and development process to make improvements when needed. After every customer project, I deep-dive into the collected data to provide more insights.

What do you like most about working at Wildlife Drones and why?

Working with a passionate, professional and friendly team.

If you could choose what animal would you like to track?

Dolphins!
