Alexandra Kmita

Marketing Manager

As an experienced Digital Marketing Manager with nearly a decade of experience working in the media industry, I am both creative and analytical. I am truly passionate about leveraging marketing tools and industry trends, but you will find me equally excited about conservation projects.

Alexandra is the Marketing Manager at Wildlife Drones and with a master’s degree in media and communication as well as a diploma in graphic design, she is our digital marketing all-rounder who isn’t afraid to sink her teeth into all aspects of marketing and is passionate about nurturing all stages of our customers’ purchase journey.

What do you do at Wildlife Drones?

As the Digital Marketing Manager, I develop, implement and execute strategic marketing strategies. I am looking after the day-to-day marketing activities as well as the long-term strategy to build awareness about our products and services. This ranges from website updates and Search Engine Optimisation, to print and online advertising as well as content creation, email marketing and social media account management.

What does a day at work look like for you?

Because I am working on different campaigns and marketing strategies, I have to plan ahead, as well as analyse and measure past campaigns. Even though I have set days in the week for certain tasks, I don’t have a regular daily schedule. Some days I create and plan content, while other days I improve technical website errors.

What do you like most about working at Wildlife Drones and why?

I love working with the team. We have a great work culture and the whole team gets together in the mornings to discuss our work tasks and check-in if anyone needs help. Since I started working here, I have also been involved in client projects and I am amazed by all the work our clients do! I get to speak to wildlife researchers and environmental consultants who do an incredible job at protecting species and habitats and learn something new every day.

What is your favourite project at Wildlife Drones and why?

I was able to go on some field trips with our clients and it has been such a great experience! I actually got to see the challenges wildlife researchers experience using traditional tracking technologies like handheld antennas. We were trying to search for Koalas on the ground for an hour trekking through the bush without any success. Once we flew the drone with our system we saw that we were walking in the wrong direction and that the Koala was resting in a tree close to our starting point! I am also impressed by the conservation work from Save Vietnam’s Wildlife and our project to radio-track Pangolins in Vietnam.

If you could choose, what animal would you like to track?

I would love to be involved in a Platypus project. They are just incredible animals and there is still so much to learn about them!

Your top 3 favourite Podcasts/Books?

I like listening to The Quote of the Day Show by Sean Croxton, these short episodes are always inspiring stories! Team Harry Potter.

What volunteering or passion projects do you do outside of work?

I have been volunteering for the Platypus Watch and Humpbacks and High-rises, as well as Landcare projects.
